Kharon, also spelled Charon (Kah-ron), is a psychopomp from Ancient Greek mythology. In legend, he sailed his ferry boat across the rivers Acheron and Styx, delivering the souls of the dead to Hades. He and his ferry are mentioned in works such as the Greek poem Minyas, the Aeneid, and the story of Hercules. While both spellings of his name are literally correct, the kh- prefix used in the title is closer to the Greek spelling: Χάρων.
